Thank you greatly, Taia. I'm happy someone thinks it's good.

This is a delightful form of communication. We live in so many places now, or travel so much. Well done, Aliks.

With respect, Father, perhaps you should discuss sleeping arrangements with Oceancrest in private...

Believe it or not, Aliks, I have permitted more changes in the last 25 years of my Tribe than I have in several centuries. But, remember, we are STILL the strongest, and any who argue may discuss it with Hrenna!

That said, I commend you for your work done on this journal. You have proven yourself a worthy addition to the CatFolk.

As for my lifemate's inability to sleep at night, I may well have to do more to tire her out, it seems.

Perhaps I should not interrupt a private . . . discussion, but as it has been put out in the open for all to see, I thought I would add a thought of my own. Chief, I agree with your lifemate. Each of the known tribes, with the possible exception of the Frost tribe, has their own strengths.

It is the Wooddwellers and Riverfork's willingness to combine their strength from the very beginning that has served them well throughout time. They were the ones, in the end, to aid the Elven Rangers in capturing the killers in the Four Tribe Massacre. From them, we can learn about perfect unity.

Then, too, of all the tribes, including the CatFolk, it is the Cliffdwellers who have managed to keep their life closest to the past. They still do without electricity, still work for their food as they have done countless years in the past, all while merging their life with the present. I think, from them, we might learn about honoring past traditions while making way for new ones.

And the Ice Wanderers, so quick to open themselves to those needing a home, despite what has happened in the past. When I found myself abandoned by the Frost Tribe, it was Shouter and Firesoul who took me in and first showed me kindness. And they have not done so only with me. Rather, they have opened their hearts and minds to countless others.

Really, when you think about it, there are lessons to learn from each, and strengths and weaknesses that each tribe has. To be the strongest tribe, we CatFolk should take the strengths that all of the other tribes display and merge them into a new, unique whole. In all honesty, at the moment, we are only one of several strong tribes.

I couldn't sleep last night, so I thought I'd get up and see what this project of Aliks' was all about. I'm really impressed by what has been accomplished here.

Lifemate mine, I'm sure each of the known tribes has their own strengths. You cannot simply say that the CatFolk are the strongest without taking into account the reasons the others have survived as well.

Added by Oceancrest at 03:33 p.m.

I understand his purpose, Lifemate, but I'll let none forget that we are still the strongest of the known tribes.

Incidentally, why are you online at 3:15 in the morning, mate? We had gone to bed together.

Zaka -

Calm down, lover. No one is doubting that the CatFolk tribe is strong. It was my impression that Memory was applauding those chiefs who have chosen this route as a baby-step towards permanent and open communication between the tribes. I mean, isn't that the one place we agreed on from the very beginning?

Anyway, I love you. I just wanted to let you know what I thought Memory was saying, in case you didn't see it.

I don't know who entered the first entry, but I will remind them that the CatFolk were unscathed by that Massacre. We are, and will remain, strong. We have permitted allegences as needed, but do not forget that we are still CatFolk. We are the only known tribe who yet bond with animals, and the only tribe to bond with the nobility that is feline.

So much has happened in the past decade or so, that it never fails to amaze me how we rally together even in times of peace. It started with Wheat's project. My sister has always been known for her surprising ideas and attention to detail, and it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that the moment tribal chieftains began to see the benefits of her idea, tribal journals began cropping up all over.

I'm very pleased at the success of her idea. It has long been my firm belief that the Four Tribe Massacre happened because we were not properly communicating at the time. Granted, the Massacre spurred a quick flurry of activity that left our tribes more merged than separate, but nonetheless, we are still separate in some ways. This is yet another baby-step in the right direction.

For my part, I intend to check the journals (all 6 that I know of currently) daily, and add my own comments whenever I feel the need. Those of you who know me know that I am not particularly shy about voicing my opinions and feelings. Such as now, I suppose.

In any event, I simply felt that it would be nice to comment on what I think of things.

Having gained the idea from Chieftess Wheat and the Wooddweller Journal, I spoke to Chief Zaka about setting up one for the CatFolk. It is my very great hope that this journal will aid us in getting to know our fellow tribemates and understanding both them and ourselves a little more.

However, I am at a loss as to what tribal information Zaka would like me to add to the top of the journal. For that reason, until then, it will remain blank but for the words "The CatFolk Journal".

For those of you using html in your additions to this journal, please be aware that it is governed by cascading style sheets. If you'd like a paragraph break, I would recommend that you instead use two line breaks, as this is the easiest way to deal with things. Thank you.
